The International Network for Student-Run Journals across the Social Sciences!

A passion for creating spaces

PoliNet brings together junior journals in the social sciences and humanities from across the globe. Among our founding members, journals come from five different countries in Europe and North America and represent a variety of different regional and thematic areas of expertise. Our mission is to work jointly on enhancing the role of student and junior scholarly research in academia. We are convinced that students and young scholars can make a valuable contribution to the progression of our disciplines and highlight issues that deserve more attention than they have received so far.

Sharing Expertise

Our members come from a variety of countries and academic systems. Their staff have been trained by leading institutions across mainly Europe and North America. They represent different organisational cultures and processes. Whatever the challenge, our members will find help in our network.

Supporting New Publications

We believe that student research needs a market to stand out. Our members are committed to supporting you in your endeavour to launch a journal of your own, whether in the social sciences or not.

Mutual Promotional Support

Our members have developed many different ways of reaching out to their target audiences. By promoting each others work through their various channels, each of our members get access to a much wider network of students and academics.

Joint Skill-Building Workshops

To support our teams in their work, we organise shared workshops on key issues for journals, including e.g. peer reviewing, the role of AI in academia or how to find the right publisher.

Joint Conferences

The network facilitates the joint organisation of student academic conferences among our members.

Why work with us?

Spots in established senior journals, however, are scarce and competition is extremely high. Students and junior scholars are often disadvantaged when it comes to publishing their work with one of those journals. All of our members are committed to changing this. PoliNet is our attempt to join forces in this endeavour and work together towards establishing student and junior scholarly research as an essential part of university education and academia around the globe. Join and help us make a difference!
